About the job

The Director of Location Strategy and Operations is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic alignment and operational execution of location-based initiatives across the organization. This role will ensure that locations align with the company’s global workforce and business strategies, driving operational excellence, efficient execution, and continuous improvement in location planning, performance, and evaluation. This role is pivotal in aligning location strategy and operational practices across regions while collaborating closely with cross-functional partners and senior leadership to execute.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead and drive decisions related to location strategy (expansions, new markets, M&A, exits) by partnering and influencing senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in workforce planning discussions with People Team members and leaders to understand, identify and influence location strategy decisions.
  • Facilitate regular alignment sessions with regional leaders and stakeholders to ensure consistent communication and implementation of location strategies.
  • Act as a liaison among various business units to coordinate cross-functional initiatives and resolve any location-related challenges.
  • Design location health scorecards and metrics to track the performance, effectiveness, and operational wellness of strategic growth locations; regularly analyze location performance data and provide actionable insights to leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the end-to-end process for new location requests, including business case creation, due diligence and location feasibility research, resource/budget allocation and obtain stakeholder approvals.
  • Direct and oversee the project planning and execution of location expansion or exit initiatives; working cross-functionally to align deliverables within the specified timeline in order to meet business needs.
  • Drive program improvements for the Regional Leadership Councils and partner with the councils on key initiatives and deliverables.
  • Ability to work autonomously and proactively identify opportunities for collaboration and program improvements.
  • Own and maintain Twilio’s Global Hiring guidelines for all locations, ensuring compliance with regional and corporate policies, and alignment to our location strategy.
  • Manage a project manager with providing day-to-day support, setting quarterly goals and objectives, and alignment of work and priorities.
