Requirements

Candidates should have 3+ years of professional software development experience and a university degree in computer science, physics, engineering, or equivalent programming experience. Strong knowledge of data structures, their implementations, and optimization techniques is required, along with expertise in data pipelining and big data processing frameworks. Experience with backend technologies like Python, Go, or Java, and core software engineering concepts such as garbage collection, asynchronous processing, and data structures is essential. Familiarity with building high throughput, low latency streaming pipelines using messaging queues, and experience with deployment processes including unit testing, integration testing, and cloud deployment (EC2, Kubernetes) are necessary. Knowledge of Kafka, AWS SQS, MQ, relational and non-relational databases (Postgres, SQL Server, Databricks), Spark, Vertx, Spring, Flask, Jenkins, and AWS is advantageous.

Responsibilities

The Data Engineer will work across Galaxy's diverse business lines, including Trading, Custody, Asset Management, and Mining, to improve and consolidate the company’s data backbone. This role involves building data pipelines, APIs, and reporting tools, as well as supporting production issues and contributing to CI/CD automation and DevOps improvements.
