Requirements

Candidates should have 5+ years of software development and data engineering experience with demonstrated ownership of production-grade data infrastructure. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is required. Deep expertise in scaling Spark in production (Databricks, EMR, etc.) is essential, along with a strong understanding of distributed computing and modern data modeling for scalable systems. Proficiency in Python with experience implementing software engineering best practices and hands-on experience with both relational (MySQL / PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra) databases are necessary. Strong communication skills with experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders are also required. Experience working in early-stage, high-growth environments, familiarity with MLOps pipelines, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are considered nice to have.

Responsibilities

The Staff Data Engineer will design and evolve scalable, distributed data infrastructure across cloud platforms. They will build and maintain real-time and batch data processing pipelines supporting analytics and AI/ML workloads. Responsibilities include developing and managing integrations with third-party e-commerce platforms, ensuring data availability, reliability, and quality through monitoring and automated auditing, and partnering with engineering, AI, and product teams on data solutions for business-critical needs. Additionally, they will mentor and support data engineers, establishing best practices and code quality standards.
