Requirements

Candidates should possess a strong culinary background, blending culinary talent with business acumen and teaching skills. They must demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and be able to maintain proper storage, prep, and service procedures while ensuring sanitary conditions. Furthermore, applicants should be knowledgeable about Sur La Table policies and standard operating procedures, and capable of accurately recording time worked according to company policy.

Responsibilities

The Culinary Lead will model and direct employees to meet customer service standards, deliver and hold employees accountable for exceptional cooking class experiences, contribute to employee training, maintain equipment and workspaces, ensure food safety standards are met, provide coaching and performance feedback to culinary employees, increase cooking class and retail sales, anticipate and solve problems, stay informed about product knowledge and training, and partner with various departments as needed. They will also ensure adherence to wage and hour laws and may handle, serve, and pour liquor, wine and beer, and/or mix ingredients for cocktails and drinks, along with fulfilling any additional responsibilities assigned by the Resident Chef.
