Requirements

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state. A minimum of 2-3 years of post-graduate legal experience is required, with experience in risk management, compliance, and reviewing/negotiating commercial agreements. Experience with legal issues in product development, US federal and state data security and privacy regulations, and fintech are preferred, as are strong strategic, analytical, communication, and presentation skills. Experience with employment law is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

The Corporate Counsel will provide legal advice and counsel to all Cars Commerce business units, supporting senior legal team members on various projects. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, performing legal research for business initiatives, and offering legal counsel to stakeholders for decision-making. The position also requires responding to ad hoc legal requests as needed, with a focus on e-commerce, intellectual property, and technology licensing.
