Requirements

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. A minimum of 10 years of legal experience is required, with a strong emphasis on marketing, advertising, and product counseling. Deep knowledge of advertising, consumer protection, and e-commerce laws, including TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and Telemarketing Sales Rules, is essential. Experience in the telecommunications and/or technology industry, including regulatory compliance for telecom services and broadband, is necessary. Familiarity with legal issues concerning privacy, intellectual property, brand marketing, and omnichannel advertising is also required. Excellent judgment and the ability to balance legal risks with business objectives in a fast-paced environment are crucial.

Responsibilities

The Associate General Counsel will provide legal counsel on marketing campaigns, advertising strategies, promotional activities, and co-branded partnerships. Responsibilities include reviewing and approving content, advertising copy, digital assets, presentations, and claims for compliance with advertising, consumer protection, and intellectual property laws. The role involves drafting and reviewing disclosures, disclaimers, contest rules, terms of use, and talent release agreements. Additionally, the Associate General Counsel will advise product teams on the product lifecycle, ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, serve as a legal partner to cross-functional teams, support the negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements, collaborate on marketing-related privacy issues, manage the intellectual property portfolio, and deliver training on legal considerations for advertising and brand use.
