Requirements

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited university and a Bachelor's degree, along with a license to practice law in a U.S. state or the District of Columbia. Approximately 1-3 years of corporate legal experience, either at a law firm or in-house, is required. Essential skills include experience negotiating, drafting, reviewing, and advising on contracts, outstanding communication abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively. The ideal candidate will be pragmatic, possess appropriate risk tolerance for a high-growth environment, and demonstrate flexibility and tenacity in solving complex legal and business challenges. Strong research and organizational skills, attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently are also necessary. Intellectual curiosity and a proactive approach to decision-making with incomplete information are highly valued.

Responsibilities

The Corporate Counsel will negotiate, draft, review, and advise on key company agreements such as customer, vendor, and partner contracts, and NDAs. They will collaborate with the Deal Desk to enhance contracting processes, select a contract management system, and automate the sales contract process. Responsibilities also include contributing to the legal team's handling of data privacy and security, product-related legal considerations, litigation, internal investigations, ethics and compliance, HR/Employment law, and M&A diligence and integration. The role involves assisting the Head of Legal with corporate governance, financing, and equity matters, as well as collaborating with colleagues and outside counsel. The Corporate Counsel will research and mitigate emerging legal risks, serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on critical legal matters, and provide pragmatic advice and recommendations by understanding the company's industry, operations, products, and sales model.
