Requirements

  • Must be within commutable distance of SEO’s offices at 55 Exchange Place, New York, NY 10005, upon hire
  • Adhere to the College Scholars advising model, implementing intentional use of skills and tools that uphold advising pillars
  • Manage and engage one-on-one with a cohort of ~70 Scholars remotely and in person
  • Work in a hybrid capacity (3 days/week in office)
  • Utilize Salesforce systems for documentation, reporting, and advising services
  • Maintain student confidentiality
  • Assess Scholars’ well-being and safety as needed
  • Provide case management for Scholars needing support with basic needs
  • Foster rapport with first-generation and low-income students through consistent, non-judgmental communication and proactive support identification

Responsibilities

  • Manage and engage one-on-one a cohort of ~70 Scholars remotely and in person, ensuring equitable support (80%)
  • Advise Scholars on college preparedness, academic support, personal support, and career development throughout college
  • Provide case management services for Scholars with basic needs
  • Reinforce linkages between Scholars’ instructional program and desired careers
  • Lead or support workshops and programming on career development, academic strategies, and affinity-focused support groups (10%)
  • Advocate for students with universities and other stakeholders (10%)
  • Maintain, collect, and report student data (e.g., degree audits, resumes, transcripts, financial aid) for reporting and research
  • Assess cohort engagement and implement outreach/re-engagement strategies
  • Document student case notes promptly and accurately in Salesforce
  • Actively participate in CPA Professional Development Plan and internal professional development opportunities with feedback and coaching
