Responsibilities

  • Implement sourcing strategies to support objectives in indirect or direct commodities, providing competitive advantage in materials, supplies, and services
  • Locate, analyze, and develop a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future commodity needs
  • Direct the negotiation and management of contracts/agreements for assigned commodities with medium to high risk and complexity
  • Provide guidance and direction to the purchasing/category management team on contract management, agreements, policy development, negotiation, and supply chain activities, including mentoring and coaching
  • Develop risk management strategies and recommend short- and long-term strategies with defined risk/benefit approaches; develop alternate sources for steady supply
  • Maintain budget and perform analyses of costs related to labor rates, charges, time, and materials
  • Monitor supplier capability and performance to ensure delivery, quality, and price commitments
  • Maintain and promote sound relationships with suppliers and business community; connect team members with potential suppliers
