Job Summary

The VitRet Manager is responsible for managing the Vitreoretinal (VitRet) portfolio within VitRet accounts, focusing on equipment and consumable upgrades. This role also involves lead generation for our Visualization portfolio.

Responsibilities

As a VitRet Manager – Surgical Sales, you will:

  • Conduct product demonstrations with support from technical service.
  • Partner with VitRet consultants to upgrade procedures and counter competitor activities.
  • Achieve total Alcon sales performance for:
    • VitRet equipment, including Paks.
    • Vit procedure and other consumable upgrades.
  • Generate leads for the Visualization portfolio for VSMs.
  • Maintain and optimize existing customer relationships and manage business with key accounts.
  • Promote and drive utilization within existing customer relationships.
  • Provide feedback on competitor activities in the field to management.
  • Identify equipment opportunities and support market development.
  • Maintain an excellent company image, including personal presentation.

Requirements

Competencies:

  • Deep knowledge of both the Phaco & VitRet portfolios.
  • Ability to actively find new leads, especially competitive conversions.
  • Ability to articulate the benefits of AVS connectivity.
  • Ability to provide commercial solutions (EFAs, bundles, rentals).
  • Ability to upgrade VitRet procedures to better speeds/gauges and additional consumables.
  • Effective and efficient presentation and communication skills, conveying clear, complete, and focused information.
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels, tailoring messages and demonstrating sensitivity to others and cultures.
  • Logical and analytical problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative proactively.
  • Excellent customer and colleague relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrates sound business decision-making based on fairness and consistency.
  • Experience with CRM applications (e.g., Salesforce) for relationship management, account planning, and call planning is desired.

Education:

  • Tertiary qualifications in optometry, orthoptics, science, or business.

Work Experience:

  • 3 years of experience in medical devices and/or pharma within a surgical environment.
  • Proven sales experience, preferably with medical devices.
  • Experience as a consultant for high-end medical consumables or capital equipment is preferred.
