The Vice President, Corporate Controller is a key member of Catalight’s leadership team, responsible for overseeing all accounting functions and ensuring the integrity of financial information through strong internal controls. This role provides both strategic and operational leadership to support Catalight’s growth as a mission-driven organization serving communities across the U.S. The VP will lead financial stewardship by navigating complex nonprofit and healthcare regulatory environments, driving effective accounting practices, and fostering a culture of accountability. As a highly effective communicator, the VP collaborates closely with senior leadership, program leads, board members, auditors, and funders, delivering financial insights that inform strategic decisions and promote long-term sustainability. Requirements

  • Experience with GAAP and healthcare-specific nonprofit standards.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations applicable to nonprofit healthcare organizations.
  • Experience with Uniform Guidance (OMB Super Circular) and other grant reporting requirements.
  • Strong internal controls experience.
  • Experience with financial systems and process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, treasury, and grants accounting.
  • Directly manage and produce accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP and healthcare-specific nonprofit standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations applicable to nonprofit healthcare organizations.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, overseeing the annual audit and the preparation of IRS Form 990 and other regulatory filings.
  • Ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance (OMB Super Circular) and other grant reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate and provide strategic financial leadership with the SVP of finance and accounting, CFO, CEO, and other senior leaders to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Provide strategic insights and financial analysis to inform executive decision-making and programmatic growth.
  • Participate in Board of Directors’ meetings, preparing and presenting financial reports to the Finance and Audit Committees.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting and financial reporting team, fostering a healthy + high-performance culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate departmental structure and staffing plans for efficiency and scalability as the organization grows.
  • Oversee financial systems, recommending and implementing process improvements and technology upgrades to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure the organization has strong financial systems capable of supporting multiple funding streams, complex grant tracking, and donor reporting.
