Trade Compliance Analyst

Position Overview
Stanley Black & Decker (SBD) is seeking a motivated Trade Compliance Analyst to join our Global Trade Compliance team. This role will support key risk areas within the North American Trade Compliance program, ensuring adherence to global import and export regulations. As a remote employee, you will contribute to improving cash flow, increasing supply chain speed, and reducing risk by deploying a comprehensive global trade compliance program.
About the Team
The Stanley Black & Decker Global Trade Compliance team is a group of dedicated professionals focused on navigating the complexities of international trade regulations. We are committed to adapting to evolving regulatory landscapes and business needs to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Review and assess U.S. customs entries and declarations for accuracy and compliance with import regulations.
- Ensure proper tariff classification is applied to customs entries.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, and other departments to streamline critical data collection.
- Verify country of origin information for specific products and projects.
- Support information requests between Trade Compliance and business stakeholders for external reviews.
- Provide analytical support for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requests, including Requests for Information, Post-Summary Corrections, and Protests.
- Generate reports and metrics on various elements of the import process and projects.
- Gather, cleanse, and verify accuracy of entry data from multiple sources.
- Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights, presenting findings using data visualization tools.
- Utilize critical thinking to identify root causes and resolve data discrepancies in import transactions.
- Support other departmental compliance activities in accordance with SBD policies.
- Monitor and ensure timely and accurate filing of Importer Security Filings (ISF).
- Continuously strive to improve business processes and apply feedback to enhance performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in an international trade or customs environment.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current U.S. Tariff regulations.
- Proficiency in U.S. Customs regulations and the import entry process.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, IF statements) preferred.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across multi-functional teams.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, accepting accountability and responsibility.
