Role: IET Customs Compliance Specialist

Baker Hughes is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented IET Customs Compliance Specialist to play a key role in their business, focusing on Logistics and Customs management. This role is crucial for overseeing the customs clearance processes and internal controls that support efficient customs operations and align with Baker Hughes IET customs standards.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for customs operations-related matters, facilitating process enhancement and adherence, and managing queries from internal stakeholders, customers, and vendors.
  • Process notified imports in a timely manner and resolve daily import inquiries.
  • File customs declarations in the respective government system and issue clearance instructions to approved customs brokers according to the applicable business model.
  • Assist in preparing customs clearance documentation and resolve transactional issues related to the clearance of shipped goods by collaborating with brokers and other logistics providers.
  • Assess current customs processes, identify opportunities for efficiency and quality improvements, propose process enhancements, and drive development and implementation.
  • Ensure all customs documents are retained in accordance with local regulations and corporate policies, and that processes are properly documented to quality standards.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with any authorized customs regimes or special program utilization, ensuring accurate controls and the discharge of any duty and VAT liability.
  • Perform post-entry reviews of customs declarations and broker invoices, report findings, research root causes of defects, initiate corrections, suggest improvement actions, and monitor progress.
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of customs declarations of varying complexity, maintaining "regulatory excellence" with customs administrations in accordance with BH business model, process requirements, and applicable law.
  • Monitor and track critical shipments, resolve problems, manage urgent business requests, and address issues related to complex customs transactions and supporting functions.
  • Provide advice and guidance to customs operation teams on customs-related topics (e.g., valuation, origin, HS classification, Union Customs Code & global regulations), collaborating with International Trade Compliance (ITC) as needed.
  • Support the implementation of Customs Special Programs and Free Trade Agreement Management.
  • Collect and report regular updates on agreed KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to management, Logistics leadership, and site leadership.
  • Perform analysis of global and regional trade processes.
