About the Role

Technical Support Engineers are integral to our client services and engineering teams, driving customer success by identifying and resolving critical business issues. This role involves direct customer interaction, providing expertise in software development and operations, and leveraging deep knowledge of best practices for Apache Kafka, the Confluent Platform, and complementary systems. You will be hands-on in resolving customer issues and contributing fixes back to the open-source community, building strong customer relationships and ensuring exemplary support.

Responsibilities

• Work with customers to resolve a wide range of issues with their Confluent deployments.
• Contribute to process development, helping to establish foundations for efficient growth and a best-in-class culture.
• Communicate with the core engineering team to provide real-time product feedback from the field.
• Improve product documentation and author knowledge base articles.
• Create and review product demos and internal tooling.
• Work closely with the team behind Apache Kafka.

Requirements

• 1+ years of related experience.
• Must be able to work within the PST timezone.
• Excitement for learning about streaming data and becoming a domain expert in Apache Kafka.
• Experience in diagnosing, reproducing, and resolving customer issues.
• A strong desire to make customers successful through direct interaction.
• Two out of the following three:
  • Experience troubleshooting applications running on Linux (e.g., resource contention, network bottlenecks).
  • Operational knowledge of Java applications (e.g., using jstack, jmap).
  • Experience with at least one mainstream distributed system (e.g., Kafka, Hadoop, Cassandra).
