Company Overview

Tutor Intelligence is building the technology and processes to let robots go where they’ve never gone before: the average American factory. We know general-purpose, intelligent robots are coming—and we're combining human and artificial intelligence to lead the charge. Every piece of infrastructure we deploy—compute, networking, sensors—directly impacts real-world automation and economic productivity. We’re looking for hungry, technically-minded individuals who thrive in high-ownership, high-impact roles.

Job Summary

Are you the kind of hacker who runs Arch Linux on your home-built PC (or rack) riced out exactly to your liking? Do you dream of overseeing a fleet of artificially intelligent robot workers deployed in factories and warehouses from coast to coast? As a sysadmin at Tutor, you'll take ownership over the physical and cloud-based infrastructure that powers our robots in-house and across our deployment sites. You’ll directly influence how our systems scale, perform, and operate in the real world.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve compute and network infrastructure in the cloud, at our HQ, and in deployment sites.
  • Configure and debug managed switches, routers, firewalls, and other network equipment.
  • Automate infrastructure tasks through scripting (bash, Python, or your preferred tool).
  • Ensure infrastructure reliability, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions quickly.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, manufacturing, and customer staff on infrastructure requirements.

Requirements

  • Deep familiarity with Linux systems.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and the Linux networking stack.
  • Experience with managed networking hardware (switches, routers, firewalls).
  • Comfortable writing scripts to automate infrastructure (bash, Python, etc.).
  • Hacker mentality: curious, driven, eager to own your systems and push them further.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, etc.).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and/or GitOps.
  • Familiarity with robotics or IoT deployments.
  • Experience with Docker or container orchestration (Kubernetes, Nomad).
  • Understanding of basic electronics or sensor integration.
  • Strong Python programming skills.

Company Culture & Benefits

  • Culture: We believe that something truly special can happen when talented, motivated people work together; at Tutor, every member of our team is empowered to have real impact in everything that they do. We’re characterized by both technical excellence and a commitment to collaboration and respect.
  • Benefits:
    • High-ownership role in a rapidly-growing robotics company.
    • Opportunity to directly shape real-world deployments of cutting-edge technology.
    • Collaborative and respectful culture that values your technical skills and independence.
    • Competitive compensation, benefits, and equity ownership.

Leases AI-powered robots for manufacturing

About Tutor Intelligence

Tutor Intelligence specializes in leasing AI-powered robots for manufacturing and packaging tasks to factories in the United States. Their robots can perform various essential functions such as conveyor loading, end-of-line packing, kitting, palletization, and depalletization. The leasing model operates on a 12-hour flat rate, allowing factories to use the robots without the financial burden of purchasing them outright. This flexibility enables clients to adjust their automation needs based on demand, making it particularly appealing to small and medium-sized enterprises as well as larger facilities. Tutor Intelligence's hybrid human-artificial intelligence engine allows for rapid deployment of robots, reducing setup time from months to just minutes. The company's goal is to enhance operational efficiency in the industrial automation sector while providing cost-effective solutions for factories.
