Requirements

  • 8+ years in a Software Engineering Management role on backend services exposing APIs
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Software Engineer
  • Deep knowledge of complex and scaling SaaS products, agile processes and workflows, and experience implementing them
  • Technical experience and fluency at the architectural level, enabling easy discussions with engineers
  • Various messaging systems, such as Kafka or SQS
  • Experience with Microservice architecture
  • Good understanding of software development in Java
  • Extensive experience architecting, designing, and programming applications in an AWS Cloud environment
  • Supporting and developing containerized CI/CD deployment such as Docker Containers, and Kubernetes
  • Experience architecting highly distributed and available systems that utilize load balancing, horizontal scalability, and high availability

Responsibilities

  • Lead at least 2 senior teams responsible for backend services, data stores, and APIs
  • Solve complex technical challenges around scalability and reliability
  • Focus on reducing tech debt and determine where investments should be made
  • Lead a Top 5 Project focused on non-human identities (machine identities)
  • Manage stakeholders, working closely with Product Managers, Designers, Architects, Quality, DevOps, and Customer Facing teams
  • Proactively seek to listen and find alignment with other engineering teams and stakeholders by understanding your team's technology, building strong relationships, and insisting on high-quality solutions
  • Onboard into the role, get familiar with product offering and technology (first 30 days)
  • Get to know leads, understand motivations and development areas (first 30 days)
  • Understand business problems or engineering challenges and propose software architecture designs (first 30 days)
