You will work on cross-functional teams to build scalable systems for the government, designing, implementing, and delivering services relied upon by millions of Americans. Position Summary

The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for developing end-to-end systems for one of Nava's major government partners. The primary objective is to modernize an existing legacy enterprise platform to enhance its public-facing processes and user experiences. This modernization aims to provide users with improved, real-time access to programs and services in a more user-friendly and uncomplicated manner. This role encompasses all phases of the project lifecycle, from strategy and planning through post-production testing and support.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 6-8 engineers.
  • Collaborate with fellow Nava engineers to design, review, and build well-crafted software.
  • Partner with government clients and other contractors to architect, implement, and deploy new systems and improvements to existing systems.
  • Work in an agile manner to efficiently ship new features that meet user needs.
  • Create tools and processes to automate development, testing, and production workflows.
  • Write and review technical documentation and perform code reviews.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support production systems and investigate issues.
  • Contribute to hiring activities, including submitting referrals, conducting interviews, and participating in interview debriefs, as needed.

Requirements

  • Open to Fullstack engineers.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working in an agile, multidisciplinary team environment, preferably designing and building medium to large-scale solutions on AWS.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with AWS.
  • Experience building large-scale data services with FHIR/HL7 in the healthcare sector.
  • Experience with a broad range of technologies including:
    • Angular (Typescript)

    • Python
    • OpenAPI
    • Fargate

  • Experience with big data technologies such as Spark and Databricks.

  • Capacity to think strategically about trade-offs and short-term versus long-term benefits.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
