Requirements

Candidates must possess 7+ years of professional backend software development experience, holding a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent discipline, or possess equivalent experience. Proficiency in Java programming and related frameworks, strong knowledge of database design, optimization, and administration (specifically MySQL), and extensive experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure are required. A deep understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns, proven ability to design and build scalable, high-availability systems, and excellent problem-solving and communication skills are essential. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies is expected, and all applicants must be a US Person due to involvement in GovCloud.

Responsibilities

The Senior Software Engineer will own the ability to self-start, prioritize, plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a demanding environment. They will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define and implement software solutions, utilizing AWS backend services and infrastructure to build scalable and robust backend solutions. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining efficient and scalable backend systems and APIs using Java and AWS APIs, creating and optimizing database schemas, writing complex MySQL queries, and ensuring data integrity and performance. The engineer will architect and implement RESTful APIs, identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, implement caching strategies, optimize system performance, and implement security best practices. They will collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and quality assurance engineers to deliver high-quality features, participate in code reviews, and investigate and resolve complex technical issues and outages.
