Sr. Data Analyst - Merch Data Analytics
Position Overview
Target is seeking a Sr. Data Analyst to join the Merch Data Analytics team in Bengaluru. This role will provide critical data analysis to support Target's Merchandising leadership team, enabling profitable decision-making and driving faster, smarter, and more scalable decisions in the competitive retail market. You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand their priorities and roadmaps, driving business strategies through data.

Responsibilities
- Interface with Target business representatives to validate business requirements and requests for analysis.
- Present final analytical results to stakeholders.
- Design, develop, and deliver analytical solutions for decision support or modeling.
- Gather required data and perform data analysis to support business needs.
- Communicate the impact of proposed solutions to business partners.
- Evaluate processes and analyze/interpret statistical data.
- Develop business acumen and cultivate client relationships.
- Present results in a clear, business-understandable manner, translating scientific methodology into business terms.
- Document analytical methodologies used in project execution.
- Participate in knowledge sharing systems to support iterative model builds.
- Adhere to corporate information protection standards.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging methodologies.
Requirements
- Experience: 5-8 years of overall experience, with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Qualification: B.Tech / B.E. or Masters in Statistics / Econometrics / Mathematics or equivalent.
- Extensive exposure to Structured Query Language (SQL), SQL Optimization, and DW/BI concepts.
- Proven hands-on experience with BI Visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Domo, MSTR10, Qlik) and the ability to learn new tools.
- Strong knowledge of structured (e.g., Teradata, Oracle, Hive) and unstructured databases, including Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
- Extensive hands-on experience working with large data sets.
- Hands-on experience in R, Python, Hive, or other open-source languages/databases.
- Hands-on experience with advanced analytical techniques such as Regression, Time-series models, Classification Techniques, and a conceptual understanding of these methods.
- Git source code management and experience working in an agile environment.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency, capable of working independently and in team settings in a fast-paced environment, managing urgent timelines.
- Competent and curious to ask questions, learn, and fill knowledge gaps; a desire to teach and learn.
- Excellent communication, service orientation, and strong relationship-building skills.
- Experience with Retail, Merchandising, or Marketing will be a strong advantage.
