Talent Acquisition Specialist Level II
WorkwaveFull Time
Mid-level (3 to 4 years), Senior (5 to 8 years)
The mining industry faces significant challenges in discovering new ore deposits, requiring substantially more capital than in previous decades. Easy-to-find, near-surface deposits are scarce, and the industry has under-invested in new exploration technology, relying on outdated manual techniques. This is occurring as demand for essential metals like copper and lithium accelerates due to the growth of electric vehicles, renewable energy, and data centers.
KoBold addresses this by building AI models for mineral exploration and deploying these models, alongside novel sensors, to guide exploration programs. In six years, KoBold has become the largest independent mineral exploration company and the leading exploration technology developer. Our data scientists and software engineers, hailing from top technology companies, collaborate with renowned exploration geologists to lead exploration programs.
KoBold has achieved its first discovery with significantly less capital than the industry average, identifying one of the best copper deposits ever discovered. The copper concentration in this asset is far higher than the global average for copper mines, and it is expected to generate substantial revenue for decades. KoBold's portfolio includes over 60 other projects, each with the potential for significant discoveries.
KoBold is privately held, with investors including T. Rowe Price, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Andreessen Horowitz, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, BOND Capital, Standard Investments, Equinor, BHP, and Mitsubishi.
KoBold is seeking a Senior Data Science and Engineering Recruiter to spearhead a critical initiative to significantly expand our data science and engineering talent pool. This role is instrumental in attracting and securing top-tier technical talent to maintain our industry-leading position. The Recruiter will manage the full recruitment lifecycle, sourcing and closing specialized technical candidates for roles such as Applied Scientist, Staff Data Scientist, and Director of Scientific Computing. The position may also involve recruiting for non-technical roles as needed.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, your responsibilities will include:
AI-driven mineral exploration for clean energy
KoBold Metals focuses on discovering new deposits of essential minerals like lithium, cobalt, copper, and nickel, which are crucial for clean energy technologies. The company employs artificial intelligence to enhance the mineral exploration process, making it more efficient and predictable. Their proprietary AI tool utilizes a concept known as Efficacy of Information (EOI) to guide data collection during exploration, helping to reduce uncertainty. KoBold invests over $60 million annually in more than 60 projects across three continents, leading extensive research and development efforts in the field. Unlike traditional exploration methods, KoBold aggregates comprehensive data about the Earth's crust's physics and chemistry, allowing for a more scientific approach to mineral discovery. The company's goal is to locate and sell mineral deposits to clean energy companies, providing them with the necessary resources while maintaining a competitive advantage in the market.
