Responsibilities

  • Supports in-service operating systems
  • Ensures continued operation, maintenance, and optimization
  • Determines, selects, and implements technically feasible and economically viable alternatives for sustainment
  • Analyzes and evaluates improvements to system and equipment sustainability under continued operation, maintenance, and unexpected change
  • Develops design changes to resolve operational issues
  • Introduces new materials and revises product, process, and test specifications to enhance quality, design integrity, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Collects and evaluates service use and maintenance data
  • Conducts root-cause analyses of in-service problems (e.g., operational hazards, deficiency reports, parts obsolescence, corrosion effects, reliability and maintainability trends, safety hazards, failure causes and effects)
  • Implements corrective action
  • Formulates, delivers, and/or manages projects
  • Works with stakeholders to achieve desired results
  • May act as a mentor to colleagues
  • Delivers R&D, systems, or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies
  • Adheres to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills
