Position Overview

As our Supply Chain Manager, you will lead the logistics life-cycle for Montu’s Canadian operation, Budbase. This role involves working with Licensed Producer (LP) partners, sourcing products, and managing global distribution across international medical cannabis markets. You will be a key contributor to the supply chain team and strategy, building trusted relationships with licensed producers, distributors, and logistics providers. You will also manage product shipments and timelines through our trusted GMP partners.

This position is ideal for an individual with proven experience scaling a pharmaceutical or medical-cannabis supply chain in Canada, possessing a deep understanding of global import/export permits, quality systems, and operational buying.

Key Responsibilities

Import & Domestic Distribution

• Lead end-to-end importation of medical cannabis and pharmaceutical products into Canada.
• Coordinate and track timelines with partner Health Canada permits.
• Track international permits and clearances for planning purposes.
• Manage country-wide distribution, planning and working with LP partners to procure and source products for international distribution.

Supply-Chain Strategy & Optimisation

• Design and implement scalable, cost-effective supply-chain models that balance reliability, speed, and efficiency to meet in-market timelines.
• Identify and act on opportunities to reduce landed costs and improve efficiency and service levels.

Regulatory & Quality Compliance

• Collaborate with cultivators, processors, and packers to ensure all activities meet Canadian Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) / Good Production Practice (GPP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards for specific international regulatory requirements.

Supplier & Partner Management

• Source and negotiate with licensed producers, contract manufacturers, wholesalers, 3PLs, and courier networks for forecasting and planning.
• Build long-term partnerships that de-risk supply and support rapid volume growth.

Inventory & Demand Planning

• Forecast demand across multiple SKUs for multiple markets.
• Set safety-stock parameters to avoid stock-outs while minimizing write-offs.
• Implement a robust Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) cadence with international cross-functional teams.

Process Automation & Digital Optimisation

• Drive ERP/WMS enhancements, EDI integrations, and data-analytics dashboards to streamline workflows and meet real-time reporting requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with stakeholders across all international markets in Product, Category, Finance, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to deliver on product specifications.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven Canadian Experience: Demonstrated experience in pharmaceutical, medical-cannabis, or other highly regulated supply chains.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of Health Canada import/export rules, CBSA procedures, GMP/GPP, GDP, Cannabis Act & Regulations.
• International Experience: International export experience is a must.
• Scaling Operations: Demonstrated success in scaling operations and implementing cost-saving, quality-driven initiatives.
• Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills. Ability to thrive in a hands-on, start-up setting.
• Flexibility: Ability to work and be flexible during evenings to accommodate time zone differences with markets like Australia.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills, proficiency in office/Google suite of tools, and strong multi-tasking abilities.
