Position Overview

Aerospike is seeking a technically proficient Sales Engineer to support the sales of our real-time data platform products and services. This role involves maintaining comprehensive knowledge of our products' functionalities and processes, and providing technical expertise to close sales by aligning solutions with client needs.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Aerospike's technical offerings and be adept at communicating this information clearly to non-technical audiences. A strong drive to meet sales targets, coupled with excellent sales and customer service skills, is essential. This is a pre-sales position requiring strong listening skills and a talent for resolving technical challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to explain Aerospike's products or services to customers.
  • Discuss equipment needs and system requirements with customers and engineers.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support.
  • Generate high-quality sales leads, follow up after initial contact, and secure and renew orders.
  • Research, develop, and identify modifications to products to meet customers' technical requirements and needs.
  • Assist customers with issues related to installed products and recommend best practices for upgrades.
  • Solicit and log client feedback, evaluating the data to create new sales and marketing strategies.
  • Identify areas for improvement and communicate these issues, along with potential solutions, to upper management, including product managers.
  • Set and achieve sales goals and quotas.
  • Train other members of the sales team on the technical aspects of Aerospike's products and services.
  • Enable customers and partners through Meetups, ‘Beer and Curry’, Training sessions, and Hackathons.

Prerequisites

  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer-facing skills, with experience engaging C-Level executives and Developers.
  • Linux experience is a must.
  • Experience with Databases, including NoSQL, Relational, Distributed, and MPP systems.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to assess, prioritize, and complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Experience with Hadoop ecosystem components such as Spark, HBase, HDFS, Hive, Impala.
  • Strong independent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of the complexities of mission-critical applications.
  • Ability to feed requirements back to product management and engineering.
