Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer Contractor

Employment Type: Contract Location Type: Remote Salary: $30-$40 per hour (depending on experience)


Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and user-focused Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer Contractor to join our team. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about ensuring high-quality product experiences and possessing a keen eye for detail, even without a technical or coding background. As a QA Engineer, you will be instrumental in reviewing product functionality, identifying bugs, and ensuring our software meets user expectations.

This is an independent contractor position, requiring approximately 20 hours per week initially, with potential for additional hours on other projects. The role is open to candidates located anywhere in the US.


Responsibilities

  • Execute manual test plans to validate product features and user flows.
  • Report bugs, inconsistencies, and usability issues clearly and thoroughly.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and developers to understand feature requirements and edge cases.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) for new releases.
  • Help document and maintain test cases and QA processes.
  • Track and verify resolved issues to ensure proper fixes.
  • Provide feedback to improve functionality, design, and user experience.
  • Help maintain product quality across various browsers, devices, and environments.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in a QA role (software or digital product experience preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and a natural curiosity to identify issues.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to think from a user’s perspective and advocate for quality.
  • Organized, dependable, and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Comfortable using project management and documentation tools such as Asana, Jira, Trello, Confluence, or similar.
  • Familiarity with web and mobile applications.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with tools like TestRail, Zephyr, or exploratory testing tools.

Nice to Have (But Not Required)

  • Experience working in Agile teams or fast-paced environments.
  • Familiarity with basic QA methodologies or terminology (e.g., regression testing, smoke testing).
  • Interest in growing into a more technical QA role over time.
