Payment Operations Associate

Position Overview

Maven is seeking a Payment Operations Associate to join the Payment Delivery team. This role is crucial in supporting members through their fertility journeys by mitigating financial anxiety associated with fertility treatments. The Associate will manage claim denials and appeals with payers and resolve discrepancies for members. This position reports to the Director of Payment Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process complex claims related to Maven’s fertility treatments, procedures, applicable medications, and expenses for additional paths to parenthood, adhering to company policies and benefit plan designs.
  • Identify instances of denials and underpayments within claims.
  • Prepare and submit timely, well-documented appeals and reconsiderations to insurance payers for claim re-processing.
  • Communicate with insurance representatives to follow up on appeals and resolve claim issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of appeals, claim statuses, and outcomes.
  • Facilitate timely and accurate payments and resolve payment disputes.
  • Identify patterns or trends in claim denials and escalate systemic issues to management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient payment process.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in benefits management or insurance, with a focus on claims and collections.
  • Understanding of medical billing, coding, insurance claims processing, and revenue cycle management (fertility claims experience is a plus).
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Proficiency in claims and collection management software (e.g., Availity, Stedi).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is a plus.

Salary & Location

  • Salary: For candidates in NYC, CO, or CA, the base salary range is $80,000 - $85,000 per year.
