Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, along with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree with 10 years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma/GED with 12 years of relevant experience. U.S. citizenship and an appropriate security clearance (e.g., Active TS/SCI with agency-appropriate polygraph) are required. Experience in computer or information systems design/development, programming, information/cyber/network security, vulnerability analysis, penetration testing, computer forensics, information assurance, and/or systems engineering is necessary, along with experience in network or system administration. Recent experience with Linux and Windows operating systems (command line proficiency is essential) and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is desirable.
The Network System Engineer 3 will design and integrate various network and telecommunications equipment functions into functional systems, adhering to international, U.S., and military standards. They will document equipment layouts, perform end-to-end systems testing, integrate Agency serial and IP encryptors into networks and systems, and understand emerging telecommunications trends and technologies. The role involves integrating appropriate installation hardware, such as equipment racks and cabling, and maintaining the overall operational health of a customer network, leading technical efforts across organizations. Additionally, the engineer will support the design and infrastructure of the network with a planned overhaul, create and maintain accounts, troubleshoot network issues at all levels, and ensure system compliance using STE/STN and RMF frameworks.
