Senior Network Engineer

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview

Ro is a direct-to-patient healthcare company dedicated to helping patients achieve their health goals by delivering the easiest, most effective care possible. As the only company offering nationwide telehealth, labs, and pharmacy services, Ro's vertically integrated platform provides a convenient, end-to-end healthcare experience from diagnosis to medication delivery and ongoing care. Since 2017, Ro has served millions of patients across the United States, including in 98% of primary care deserts. Ro has been recognized for its workplace culture, including Fortune Best Workplace in New York and Health Care (2021-2024), Best Workplace for Parents (2021-2023), and was named a CNBC Disruptor 50 in 2022.

Join Ro’s Information Technology Engineering team as a Senior Network Engineer. This hands-on, non-managerial role is responsible for the design, build, and maintenance of enterprise networks, Wi-Fi, remote-access stack, and cloud telephony platform, ensuring seamless connectivity for clinicians and patients. You will collaborate with leading network, security, and collaboration vendors to deliver fast, secure, and reliable connectivity across offices, pharmacies, and hybrid remote teams, aiming for a friction-free user experience that allows staff to focus on patient care. You will report to the IT Engineering Manager and work closely with Security, Clinical Platform, and Site teams.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, deploy, and manage Ro’s LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN infrastructure (Palo NGFW, Meraki MS/MR, Cloudflare MagicWAN/IPsec tunnels, Zscaler ZIA/ZPA, etc.).
  • Manage Zoom Phone, including number management, call routing, QoS, E-911, analytics, and user training.
  • Monitor and tune network performance, proactively identifying and resolving packet-level issues.
  • Implement and enforce zero-trust principles across users and devices, optimizing policy for speed and security.
  • Automate network and telephony configurations using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Meraki/Zoom APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Develop clear implementation plans and ensure vendor adherence to timelines and SLAs.
  • Handle L3 escalations and document resolutions to minimize recurring issues for the help desk.
  • Participate in a low-noise on-call rotation (approximately every 2 months).

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience as a network/voice engineer with end-to-end project delivery.
  • Strong background in routing and switching, with the ability to design, configure, and manage segmented networks.
  • Experience with centralized firewall management (e.g., Palo Panorama, FortiManager, Cisco FMC) for standardized configurations.
  • Demonstrated experience optimizing enterprise Wi-Fi performance in dense, co-channel, real-world environments.
  • Proven administrative experience with Cloudflare or similar SASE edge solutions, and Zscaler or equivalent VPN/ZTNA.
  • Hands-on experience deploying Zoom Phone (or similar platforms like Teams, 8x8, RingCentral) and managing number porting.
  • Proficiency in CLI usage, with a preference for API-driven configuration.
  • Scripting skills in Bash or Python for automation.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail (e.g., identifying missing JSON elements).
  • Ability to learn quickly, think clearly, and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Commitment to ensuring robust uptime and a patient-first approach.
  • Strong collaboration skills with security, operations, and clinical teams.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $133,000 - $164,000 (base salary)
  • Competitive equity and benefits package.
  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • OneMedical membership.
  • Healthcare and Dependent Care FSA.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Flexible PTO.

If necessary, prescriptions are shipped directly to the patient in discreet packaging with free shipping. Ro.co prioritizes privacy and security, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and implementing measures to protect user data. Unlike many competitors, Ro.co provides a seamless end-to-end healthcare experience, making it easier for patients to access the care they need from the comfort of their homes.
