Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, with 8-10+ years of automotive industry experience and at least 5 years of direct experience working with or consulting to dealer principals. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required, along with proven abilities in business negotiation, forecasting, multitasking, analytical evaluation, strategic thinking, and experience in mergers and acquisitions or buy-sell transactions. Strong interpersonal, presentation, and stakeholder management skills are essential, as is the willingness and ability to relocate to support any of the 5 regions and travel as needed. A deep understanding of retail automotive dealership operations and prior involvement in dealership transitions or start-ups are preferred qualifications.
The Regional Portfolio Manager will serve as a financial and operational subject matter expert for dealer candidates, Motors Holding (MH) dealers, and GM field teams. This role involves leading and executing all dealership pre-investment due diligence, including developing operational forecasts, evaluating investment viability, ensuring alignment between dealer candidates and investment opportunities, negotiating valuations and buy-sell agreements, and presenting investment proposals. The manager will coordinate pre-closing activities with stakeholders, participate as an active Board of Directors member for MH dealer companies, and build strong relationships with dealer operators to provide consultative guidance and performance monitoring.
