Requirements

  • Ability to design, develop, and execute category strategies driving customer satisfaction, trust, sales, share, and profitability
  • Proficiency in data-driven insights for optimizing assortment, pricing, and promotional activities
  • Experience with full P&L accountability, including short- and long-term planning, proactive/reactive management, and achieving financial targets

  • Capability to oversee new item and promotional forecasts, identify item adds/deletes, manage markdowns/markups/price adjustments, and develop entry/exit strategies

  • Understanding of customer behavior across channels
  • Experience guiding suppliers and vendors in customer-focused processes and products
  • Ability to create sales reports, support forecasting, and provide analyses
  • Vendor management skills, including negotiating agreements, costs, allowances, quality, and delivery terms
  • Willingness to attend trade shows and buying trips to identify new vendors
  • Accountability for marketing aspects, including tab space planning, item level planning, selection, forecasting, and execution for various media

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end merchandise profit and loss, including planning and achieving financial targets
  • Develop and execute category strategies through data analysis, assortment optimization, vendor/SKU management, price laddering, and brand development
  • Oversee forecasts for new items and promotions, manage item adds/deletes, markdowns/markups/price adjustments, and entry/exit strategies
  • Plan line reviews and deliver store-ready modulars and seasonal sets on time
  • Understand customer behavior and guide suppliers/vendors in developing customer-focused processes/products
  • Track category performance against financial targets and support category finances
  • Create sales reports, support forecasting, and provide analyses
  • Negotiate and manage vendor agreements, costs, allowances, quality, and delivery terms to drive performance
  • Attend trade shows and buying trips to identify new vendors and enhance categories
  • Handle all marketing aspects of the category, including tab space/item planning, selection, forecasting, and execution
  • Provide coaching and direction to team members and mentor others
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, implement business solutions, determine processes/practices, adapt to changes, and ensure execution of customer programs
  • Collaborate with modular and site merchandising teams on customer communication and education
