Candidates should possess a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 6 years and a Master’s degree, or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience. They should have 7+ years of datacenter management and/or systems engineering management experience, along with 2+ years of experience working with Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, and others). Furthermore, candidates are expected to have experience in enterprise server solutions, enterprise storage solutions, rack-level power design/management, and complex network cabling design, and an intermediate understanding of AC/DC power calculations. Exceptional attention to detail, demonstrated problem-solving abilities, and strong communication and interpersonal skills are also required.
As a Hardware Sustaining Engineering Manager, the role involves managing the sustainability of server, storage, and full-rack hardware standards, overseeing the maintenance of documentation, designing and implementing changes to non-capacity components, and working directly with hardware manufacturers to evaluate new technologies. The position also entails managing daily work assignments for engineers, leading a team in troubleshooting and problem remediation, providing career development leadership, collaborating with various engineering teams on hardware rollouts, ensuring continuity of supply by identifying and validating hardware alternates, and documenting change management processes. Finally, the role requires maintaining relationships with resellers/integrators and suppliers of non-capacity components, and designing operational configurations to ensure consistent deployments over time.
