Responsibilities

  • Oversee shipping and delivery of materials and warehouse personnel, including managing truck loading, delivery routes, and unloading
  • Manage inventory and maintain communications with carriers, suppliers, warehouses, customs brokers, and others involved in shipping and delivery
  • Oversee transportation of products between locations (e.g., loading docks to warehouses or warehouses to stores), arrange pickups and deliveries with transportation companies, and route drivers
  • Conduct cost analysis of transportation companies to select cost-efficient options able to handle shipment loads
  • Communicate with trucking companies, warehouse supervisors, customs brokers, sales forces, and customers to ensure timely packing, sending, and delivery of shipments, including obtaining quotes and selecting carriers based on cost, availability, and reliability
  • Study client or customer needs, manage inventory accordingly (e.g., analyze product orders to determine stock needs), and reorder products to maintain sufficient inventory levels
