Candidates must possess a law qualification from a reputable institution and be admitted as a solicitor or lawyer, ideally in Australia, with a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification legal experience. Prior in-house legal experience is required, along with a strong ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
The Legal Counsel will provide legal advice to the business units and central functions, advising the group on legal risks and providing legal support across various activities including commercial contracting, product development, payments, sales, and marketing. They will also assist in building a world-class legal and regulatory infrastructure, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining relationships with external counsel, monitoring statutory and regulatory changes, and reinforcing a culture of compliance. Additionally, the role involves substantive legal issue resolution, providing pragmatic legal guidance, and supporting the acquisition and maintenance of relevant licenses globally.
