Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and maintain an active license to practice law in the state of New York. They should have a minimum of three years of in-house or firm experience within the consumer finance industry, with preference given to Fintech or Earned Wage Access experience. Demonstrated litigation experience, including case management and coordination with external counsel, is also required. Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, such as TILA, UDAAP, ECOA, Reg E, and state licensing laws, is essential.
As a Counsel, the individual will navigate legal and regulatory requirements, advise cross-functional teams on product development and compliance, conduct legal research and analysis, manage litigation and dispute resolution processes, and stay informed of changes in laws and regulations to ensure company adherence. They will also review customer-facing agreements and disclosures for compliance and collaborate with stakeholders on various legal matters.
