Position Overview

  • Salary: $160,000 - $200,000 per year (Salary range is dependent on geography, past experience, seniority, and demonstrated role related ability during the interview process.)

Kiddom’s high-quality curriculum is layered with robust teacher and leader data insights to drive the continuous improvement of instructional decisions, school/district programming, and professional learning. As Kiddom’s first dedicated legal counsel, you will use your deep understanding of legal contracts and organizational partnerships to support and protect our rapidly growing business. Reporting to the VP of Strategy and Operations, this individual will collaborate across departments, and ultimately be responsible for:

Responsibilities

  • Drafting & Reviewing Agreements: Creating, reviewing, and refining legal documents, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with company goals.
  • Negotiation Support: Collaborating in negotiations, protecting and enforcing the company’s interests.
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensuring Kiddom is set up to comply with relevant commercial, transactional, and privacy laws & regulations.
  • Risk Assessment: Identifying potential legal risks and proposing practical solutions to mitigate them.
  • Process Improvement: Developing standard templates and streamlining processes for recurring legal needs to enhance consistency and scalability.
  • Interfacing directly with Counsel representing clients, partners, and vendors.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success working across a wide range of legal matters, including oversight for all corporate reporting and obligations, and corporate governance experience (including management of board and committee).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to synthesize and present complex ideas simply and understandably to employees at all levels, as well as the executive team and the Board.
  • Strong negotiation skills balanced with an above average business acumen, informing legal recommendations.
  • Deep experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of top-priority commercial agreements.
  • Experience providing legal support for sales organizations at scale.
  • Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.
