Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical product management (5 to 8+ years depending on past team/company size)
  • Expert on the needs of either frontend or backend software developers in ecommerce or a similar context
  • Strong technical background with an understanding of software development processes and methodologies
  • Proficient in technical competitive analysis, technical feature prioritization, and trade-off analysis
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively
  • Familiarity with REST and GraphQL APIs in an integration context
  • Experience working in SCRUM Agile methodologies and understanding of the process
  • Passionate about building next-generation products for the fast-growing ecommerce industry
  • Experience working on platform artifacts and understanding services, APIs, and frameworks

Responsibilities

  • Become an expert on customers in the BigCommerce developer community and advocate for their problems and needs
  • Gather inputs from cross-functional stakeholders (Marketing, Business Development, Sales, Finance etc.)
  • Define and communicate business outcomes and performance metrics to key stakeholders throughout the organization
  • Enthusiastically lead teams (developers, designers, quality engineers) towards the vision with effective delivery
  • Work collaboratively with teams to break complex projects into small projects, with each iteration adding more customer value
  • Prepare comprehensive Epics & Stories for development teams
  • Explain details of stories to development teams before/during development (organize planning, grooming meetings etc.)
  • Work with the Product Design team to design & prototype new features as appropriate
  • Validate new functionality with customers before development
  • Demo new functionality to stakeholders, the organization, and customers
  • Analyze the entire product and propose ways to improve it
  • Analyze data to measure the impact of product improvements, and iterate to constantly optimize performance
  • Work closely with engineering teams, API strategy group, and the rest of the Product & Engineering organization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Marketing, PR, Strategic Business Development etc.) for a cohesive strategy delivering excellent developer experiences
