At least 3 years of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks
Ability to perform inspections and repairs without supervision in some (not all required) of the following heavy truck or automotive systems: Suspensions, Steering, General Engine, Transmissions, Brakes, Electrical, Hydraulics, Drive Train, Diesel Emissions
Valid Driver’s License
Maintains expert knowledge of, and advanced working proficiency in, vehicle components and systems including chassis, refuse bodies (control, hydraulic, electrical), air and hydraulic braking systems, engine, suspension, drivetrain, steering, and heating/AC systems
Ability to perform complex repair maintenance functions both on-site and on the road
Responsibilities
Provides direction to a group of technicians to ensure repairs and maintenance comply with company safety standards and federal/state regulations
Performs chassis (diesel and non-diesel equipment/trucks) and refuse bodywork, including hydraulic, electrical, heating, and AC system maintenance/repair
Diagnoses complex repair work and provides coaching on diagnostic techniques to subordinate technicians
Performs external repair inspections to ensure safe workmanship and schedules repair work to minimize lost productivity
Performs line maintenance welding and fabrication
Plans and schedules repair work for the work group
Inspects third-party vendor repairs for compliance with safety procedures and regulations, following up as necessary
Identifies malfunctions using electronic tools
Completes applicable company training programs
Handles Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities as needed
