Requirements

  • Recognized technical leader within discipline with thorough understanding of how work affects other disciplines

  • Experience in design documentation, including architectural documentation for remodels, small format stores, new stores, sustainability programs, innovation, and facilities support

  • Skills in pre-empting challenges, troubleshooting complex problems, and providing technically sound solutions
  • Capability to manage architecture design support teams, evaluate workload capacity, and develop strategies within budget and staffing levels
  • Experience in technical training, talent cultivation, and providing feedback to team members
  • Strong advocacy for Target culture, values, and brand management

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for programs or processes supporting Target Architecture team goals and seek continued improvement
  • Participate in strategic growth of the team to support design and construction
  • Contribute to research and advanced application of architectural software for growth and process efficiencies
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure successful completion of architecture programs, including design of remodel efforts, small format stores, new stores, sustainability programs, innovation, and facilities support
  • Manage architecture design support team and develop design documentation (architectural documentation, special projects 3D & BIM models, renderings)
  • Facilitate coordination with architecture and engineering consultants on selected projects
  • Lead project collaboration tools, protocols, project file-management, and reference documentation
  • Strategize and implement ways to improve productivity, design, accuracy, and completeness of work
  • Pre-empt challenges/complex problems and proactively resolve with technically sound solutions; ensure designs are executed effectively by design teams
  • Support multi-discipline teams in execution and completion of engineering studies
  • Contribute to a positive work environment that encourages collaboration and promotes Target as a preferred workplace
  • Enhance partnership between Minneapolis and TII supporting one team, two location philosophy
  • Provide technical leadership, motivation, and assistance to managers and team members for teamwork and high performance
  • Cultivate talent through training, attracting, and developing new team members; deepen skill sets and expand technical software knowledge
  • Monitor high potentials, provide resources for growth, and maintain formal feedback
  • Initiate and conduct trainings and work programs per Target’s policies, priorities, and budget
  • Evaluate BIM team workload capacity and requirements; develop strategies to achieve business objectives within budget and staffing levels
  • Contribute to research and application of initial design and retrofit for Target’s properties
  • Apply Target’s project management practices
