Requirements

Candidates must have proven experience managing and mentoring design teams, and possess deep expertise in product design, design systems, product strategy, and human-centered design. Strong skills in UX design, visual design, product strategy, critique, collaboration, research, and content design are essential. Leadership capabilities including selling design, vision setting, creative direction, systems design, and brand strategy are required. The role is open to remote candidates within PST to GMT time zones.

Responsibilities

The Design Director will lead by doing, balancing leadership with hands-on design execution and providing actionable feedback to project teams. They will partner with Account Directors to align design strategies with client business priorities, acting as a trusted design advisor and presenting work effectively to stakeholders. Responsibilities also include applying service design and change management principles, scoping design work, and building strong client relationships. Internally, the role involves fostering a collaborative design culture, mentoring Design Leads, and representing Metalab in the design community to attract talent and business opportunities.
