Specialist, People Operations & HR Compliance (EMEA)

Position Overview

Confluent is seeking a Specialist, People Operations & HR Compliance to join our People Team in EMEA. This is a new role reporting to the Sr Manager, International People Operations. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in various HR areas and be eager to contribute immediately to a fast-growing tech company. This role will support our People Operations function and compliance efforts across EMEA, navigating a dynamic external compliance landscape.

Responsibilities

People Operations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries from employees and managers in EMEA.
  • Deliver Benefits onboarding sessions to all EMEA new hires within their first week.
  • Manage day-to-day benefits administration, including documenting enrollment, termination, and life cycle update processes.
  • Support the Benefits team with vendor audits.
  • Prepare employee documentation for organizational structure changes, acquisitions, internal transfers, promotions, leavers, salary changes, and re-organizations.
  • Handle employee life-cycle administration and off-boarding processes.
  • Manage country-specific processes, including planned and unplanned leave of absence, payroll administration, onboarding, offboarding, and data changes.
  • Assist People Business Partners in providing an excellent employee experience to their client groups through regular check-ins and HR administration support.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to provide HR payroll instructions for monthly payroll submission.
  • Support the Workday implementation for time off and leave of absence, maintaining employee data integrity and assisting the HRIS team with Workday testing.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects and programs.

Compliance

  • Assist in documenting compliance requirements for each country.
  • Support the documentation and amendment of internal people operations processes to ensure compliance in given countries, including new and existing entities.
  • Help draft internal HR compliance communications.
  • Assist with external audits, government agency requests, and regulatory filings.
  • Help prepare reports for HR audits and inspections.
  • Support HR compliance projects.
  • Stay current on relevant laws and best practices and apply this knowledge.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in an HR role within a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Experience with HR and HR compliance matters for EMEA countries.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Google Suites.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, preferably Workday.

  • Professional proficiency in German.
  • Experience supporting scale-up or high-growth tech environments.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR).
