Requirements

  • Knowledge of government regulations, safety compliance (e.g., DOT, EPSM, PSM, food safety), and emergency response coordination
  • Skills in budget preparation, expense management, profit plans, and capital requests
  • Ability to manage labor hours, consumable supplies, work schedules, and preventative maintenance programs
  • Proficiency in maintenance tracking software, audits, inspections, and documentation retention
  • Strong vendor management skills, including maintaining certificates of insurance and hold harmless agreements
  • Leadership abilities to manage associates, conduct training, enforce policies, monitor morale, and foster communication

Responsibilities

  • Manages the daily work and safety of associates engaged in building, grounds, sanitation, fleet maintenance, repair, refrigeration systems, beverage department, power industrial equipment, and security
  • Handles labor hours and consumable supplies within budget
  • Prepares work schedules including extra work days and shifts as needed
  • Coordinates emergency response or crisis management activities and develops liaisons with local emergency management entities
  • Assists Safety Manager with training initiatives
  • Administers the proper selection, purchase, utilization, and inventory of Company assets for fleet and facilities departments
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure upgrades and repairs are completed efficiently
  • Develops business relationships with third-party vendors (e.g., janitorial, pest services, security, contractors)
  • Maintains current certificate of insurance and hold harmless agreements for all contracted vendors
  • Prepares budget, profit plans, and capital requests as required
  • Evaluates metrics and adjusts activities to meet or exceed performance expectations
  • Suggests efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures, and assists with implementation of changes
  • Establishes preventative maintenance schedules for all systems, equipment, and buildings (e.g., ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, fire protection, security, electrical, dock systems, power industrial equipment, building components)
  • Oversees, assigns, and monitors all fleet and facility projects for quality and timely completion
  • Utilizes maintenance tracking software for task management
  • Conducts audits ensuring all required inspections and documentation are completed accurately and retained
  • Preserves associate relations through regular meetings, ongoing interaction, open communication, answering questions, and explaining policies
  • Monitors associate morale and submits/responds to ideas for improving engagement
  • Interprets, trains on, and enforces Company policies and procedures
  • Organizes efforts with the Safety department for training, associate observations, updating work methods, and conducting accident investigations
