About Us:

UnitX is building the world’s best robotics product to accelerate human productivity in manufacturing. We're a fast-moving startup backed by top-tier investors and led by a team from Stanford and Google. Since our inception, UnitX has deployed 500+ mission-critical systems across 115+ of the world’s top manufacturers. Every year, over $2.8B worth of products—like EV batteries—go through our AI inspection systems to ensure quality.

We're looking for a Field Solutions Engineer to join our growing team during this exciting post-Series B phase. This is a hands-on, high-impact role ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering, customer interaction, and field deployment.

  • System Installation & Integration: Travel to customer sites across the U.S. and Mexico to install and integrate advanced AI-based machine vision systems with production lines, PLCs, motion control, and imaging equipment.
  • Solution Design & Prototyping: Collaborate with customers and internal teams to design and validate customized defect inspection solutions. This includes working with optics, imaging systems, control systems, and automation components.
  • Demonstrations & POCs: Lead in-lab and on-site demonstrations and proof-of-concept (POC) efforts to show capabilities of UnitX systems and solve challenging visual inspection problems.
  • Testing & Troubleshooting: Build prototypes, run diagnostic tests, and resolve mechanical, electrical, or software-related technical issues during deployment.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation including system architecture, wiring schematics, user guides, and standard operating procedures.
  • Customer Support & Communication: Act as a trusted technical advisor to our customers, translating their manufacturing needs into scalable automation solutions and ensuring successful project execution.

Travel Requirements:

Expect up to 80% travel, including 40–60% overnight travel to customer facilities throughout Mexico and possibly the United States.

Who You Are:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing automation, machine vision, or robotics systems.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient with CAD, optical systems, electrical wiring, PLC integration, and motion control systems.
  • Familiarity with multimeters, soldering, and troubleshooting automation hardware.

Soft Skills:

  • Hands-On & Detail-Oriented: Strong mechanical and electrical skills; comfortable working on factory floors and solving problems in real-time.
  • Problem Solver: Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to diagnosing and resolving complex technical challenges.
  • Communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-Starter: Highly motivated and comfortable managing tasks independently in fast-paced environments.
