Standard BotsFull Time
Senior (5 to 8 years), Expert & Leadership (9+ years)
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree, with a Masters or PhD preferred, in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Proven expertise in the robotics or autonomous vehicle field, at least 2 years of research experience in robotics or motion planning, and 2+ years of C++ software development are required. Prior experience in taking projects from problem formulation through implementation and deployment, along with a thirst for knowledge and continuous innovation, is also necessary.
The Principal Motion Planning Engineer will research, develop algorithms, and build software to generate safe, comfortable, and intuitive routes and motions for autonomous vehicles. Responsibilities include developing various planning algorithms such as search-based, sampling-based, optimization-based, linear-temporal logic, and decision-making under uncertainty. The role involves integrating and evaluating motion planning and prediction algorithms, designing and building robust and scalable codebase for rapid exploration, and interfacing with perception, prediction, trajectory optimization, and control components. Additionally, the engineer will participate in code reviews, mentor team members, and foster a culture of product-focused engineering, research, and development.
Develops fully driverless robotaxis for urban transport
Motional develops fully driverless vehicles, specifically robotaxis, aimed at transforming urban transportation. Their all-electric robotaxis are designed to navigate complex city environments safely and efficiently. Motional partners with ride-hailing and delivery services, providing them with advanced autonomous vehicle technology to enhance their operations and reduce costs. A unique aspect of Motional's service is its Command Center, which allows for real-time tracking of each robotaxi, enabling human agents to monitor performance and ensure passenger safety. Unlike many competitors, Motional focuses on integrating its vehicles into existing mobility networks, making driverless technology accessible and reliable. The company's goal is to make autonomous vehicles a safe and integral part of urban transportation.
