Candidates should hold a qualification in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biosciences or a similar field, and possess previous field-based experience, preferably in the biotechnology/biomedical industry or military experience. They should also have demonstrable strong problem-solving skills, excellent customer-facing abilities, and good technical abilities. Fluent English language skills and a valid UK driving license are essential.
The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for providing on-site service of Illumina equipment at customer sites, including installations, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairs of complex equipment and systems. They will interface with internal support structures, provide technical assistance to customers, staff, and contractors, install and maintain instrument systems within their territory, and manage service parts inventory levels. Additionally, they will complete administrative work, maintain customer information and technical files, and work in conjunction with other staff to coordinate new system placements and promote upgrades. Travel up to 80% across Scotland, and occasionally Northern England and UK & Ireland, is required.
