The Field Bioinformatics Support Scientist (Bioinformatics 1) role provides technical direction and support to Illumina’s Next generation Sequencing customers on Illumina Software & Analysis Products. This role is highly cross-functional, working closely with Field Application Scientists, Field Service Engineers, and Sales. The primary focus is supporting customers in Latin America. This role offers the opportunity to impact the lives of people around the world through genomic technology and contribute to life-changing discoveries in human health.

Requirements

• English Fluency: Required (resume must be submitted in English)
• Education: Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience, Master’s or PhD in bioinformatics (plus 1 year relevant experience) in molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics, or a related field.
• Experience: Experience offering services for simple to complex data analysis leveraging Illumina software expertise.

  • Willingness to travel up to 70%.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction and support to Illumina’s Next generation Sequencing customers on Illumina Software & Analysis Products.
• Develop technical mastery of Illumina’s technology and informatics portfolio.
• Professionally and efficiently troubleshoot and resolve bioinformatics questions by phone and email for internal and external customers.
• Collaborate within a team of support scientists to find optimal solutions to customers’ complex bioinformatics challenges.
• Assist customers with the design and interpretation of Next Generation Sequencing experiments and analysis.
• Log and manage customer issues using Illumina’s issue-tracking database.
• Join sales and other teams to meet with customers who have potential bioinformatics needs, understand their objectives, and propose solutions and timelines.
• Meet with field teams in Latin America and USA to discuss new opportunities to help customers with their analysis needs.
