  • Job Type: Full-Time
  • Salary: Not specified
  • Company: Conception
  • Mission: To generate viable human eggs from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).

Conception is a startup focused on developing research to remove age limits on motherhood, screen eggs for genetic mutations, and enable same-sex couples to reproduce. The company is working to derive human germ cells from iPSCs that resemble in vivo germ cells and develop ovarian organoids to aid egg development.

Requirements

  • Education: PhD in epigenetics, computational biology, genomics, systems biology, or related field.
  • Industry Experience: 1-5 years of industry experience.
  • Epigenetics Data Experience: 5+ years of experience analyzing and interpreting epigenetics data and translating insights into actionable progress at the bench.
  • Publication Record: Strong publication record demonstrating leadership in epigenetics-based projects.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Highly proficient in R, Python, and Bash.
    • Strong data analysis skills.
    • Proficiency in versioning and collaborative coding via Git.
    • Experience with a high-performance computing cluster and/or cloud computing environment.
  • Data Analysis Expertise: Highly proficient in analyzing ATAC and multiomics datasets, ChIP-seq or CUT&TAG datasets.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with biology teams to independently perform team-specific projects using both in-house & publicly available data.
  • Functionally interact with Conception’s computational infrastructure (databases, automated pipelines, HPC cluster, etc.).
  • Contribute to team code bases, using best practices for documentation and version control.
  • Assess the literature for interesting new analysis methods in epigenetics and progress in stem- and germ cell biology.
  • Translate computational findings into testable hypotheses and experimental designs.
  • Work closely with biologists to identify ways computational data can be leveraged to generate new hypotheses and scientific directions.
  • Perform data set processing, QC assessment, differential expression, pathway analyses, motif analysis, regulatory network inference, and boutique analyses.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Prior experience with iPSC derivation & germ cell biology.
  • Knowledge of relevant bench techniques.
  • Experience leveraging deep learning tools in multiomics.

Conception

Biotech firm developing egg cells from blood

About Conception

Conception.bio focuses on improving fertility treatments through advanced biotechnology. The company has developed a method to create viable egg cells from blood samples by transforming induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) into mature egg cells. This process allows women to extend their fertility, provides new options for couples facing infertility, and enables genetic screening of embryos to avoid hereditary diseases. Unlike other fertility treatment providers, Conception.bio directly serves individuals and couples, including same-sex male couples, with a unique approach to egg cell development. The goal is to lead the fertility treatment market by offering effective solutions that address the diverse needs of those seeking to conceive.
