Requirements

Candidates should have 3 or more years of experience as a hands-on software engineer working in a team and 2 or more years of experience as a line manager of software engineers. They should possess excellent listening and communication skills, with the ability to motivate people, provide direct feedback, and resolve conflicts. Furthermore, candidates should be product-minded, collaborating effectively with broader teams and functions, and be able to occasionally perform non-critical hands-on coding to maintain a connection with their team’s reality. Experience in a regulated environment, such as health tech or fintech, is a bonus.

Responsibilities

The Software Engineering Manager will lead a team building the platform for the next generation of clinical trials, focusing on scaling the team and product to bring new treatments to patients faster. They will build their understanding of clinical trials through onboarding training and collaboration with colleagues, familiarize themselves with the team’s stack (React, TypeScript, Django, Python, Postgres, Amazon ECS), and establish a development environment. They will also be responsible for building relationships with up to 6-8 software engineers, providing feedback, and resolving conflicts within the team.
