Position Overview

As Director of Engineering, you will lead the development of our next generation of facilities and automation systems. This executive-level role is responsible for building and managing our internal design, construction, planning, and automation teams. You will oversee site planning, facility design, and end-to-end execution for new fulfillment centers, while reducing our reliance on external consultants. This is a high-impact leadership role shaping the physical and technical backbone of Greenbox’s growth strategy.


Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build and lead high-performing teams across facility design, construction management, site planning, and automation engineering.
  • Establish internal engineering best practices and culture to support scalable growth.

Facility Development

  • Oversee the end-to-end engineering lifecycle for new fulfillment center development—from site evaluation and layout to automation implementation and construction execution.
  • Ensure alignment between long-term operational goals and engineering execution.

Automation & Technology Strategy

  • Partner with automation vendors to evaluate, select, and implement next-gen solutions that optimize throughput, reduce cost, and accelerate go-live timelines.
  • Stay ahead of technology trends to ensure Greenbox remains at the forefront of logistics automation.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with external engineering and automation partners to ensure performance, cost efficiency, and adherence to timelines.
  • Reduce reliance on external consultants by building robust in-house capabilities.

Strategic Planning

  • Collaborate closely with operations, product, and executive leadership to align engineering initiatives with Greenbox’s long-term growth strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the scalability, sustainability, and economics of our network.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of engineering leadership experience, preferably in logistics, warehouse automation, supply chain infrastructure, or industrial design/construction.
  • Proven experience overseeing large-scale capital projects involving site development, construction, and automation.
  • Strong track record of building and scaling engineering teams.
  • Deep knowledge of automation systems and facility design principles.
  • Excellent stakeholder and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Our Environment

  • Up to 50% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed bi-weekly.
