About Flex

Flex is a growth-stage, NYC headquartered FinTech company that is creating the best rent payment experience. It’s hard to believe that it’s 2025 and paying rent on time is expensive, inflexible, and difficult. We’re here to change that! Flex enables our users to pay rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances and budget. Our mission is to empower as many renters as possible with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense. After deliberately keeping a stealth profile as we built up unprecedented investor support and an enthusiastic user base, we are looking for motivated individuals to help us keep our mission growing. Will you be a part of the team?

About the Role

We’re hiring a Principal Product Manager—our most senior individual‑contributor product role—to help architect Flex’s next decade of growth. This is really a first-of-its-kind role to help solve the company’s most complicated product problems and set the tone for product culture and thinking. The ideal candidate loves solving challenging problems, has a willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done, and knows that motivating and garnering strong product culture is the success. Your super‑power is thinking in systems: spotting interdependencies, removing blockers, and translating strategy into results that renters feel and the business can measure.

You’ll be the connective tissue across Product, Design, Engineering, Risk, Data, Operations, and Go‑to‑Market—turning vision into an executable, company‑wide roadmap. You’ll work for our VP of Consumer Product and partner closely on the overall vision and mission for the broader Consumer business at Flex.

This is a hybrid position with on-site expectations of 3 days per week in our New York Headquarters. For candidates outside of the NY/NJ area, you may be eligible for our relocation assistance program.

What You'll Do

  • Shape the cross-functional consumer product strategy. Map how future products fit together into a coherent member experience and business model. We’re making a bunch of new bets- your job will be to make them thoughtfully fit together.
  • Tactically support domain PMs on the most complicated, interdisciplinary areas. Flesh out the complexity that comes from scaling, help less experienced PMs find the “gotchas” before they become a threat.
  • Shape new product opportunities. Frame thesis‑driven bets, define long‑term success signals, and secure cross‑functional alignment on investment horizons—then enable dedicated squads to execute and scale.
  • Mobilize cross‑functional teams. Build influence without authority, facilitating decision‑making across Engineering, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and GTM to keep bets moving quickly and safely.
  • Elevate the craft. While this role will be an individual contributor function, you will have the chance to mentor PMs, champion structured thinking, and continuously uplevel product practices across Flex.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years in product management or adjacent strategy roles with demonstrable impact on consumer or B2B2C fintech products; experience spanning multiple product lines or platforms.
  • Proven success acting as a Chief of Staff, Ecosystem PM, or similar strategic IC who influences C‑suite and Board‑level stakeholders.
  • Systems thinker with a track record of translating ambiguous spaces into comprehensive, staged roadmaps and operating cadences.
  • Analytical horsepower: fluency in SQL / Sigma, comfort modeling business scenarios, and rigor in experiment design.
  • Communication & influence: crisp writing and storytelling that drives clarity and alignment among senior executives and frontline teams alike.
  • Bias for action: thrive in a fast‑paced, resource‑constrained environment; unafraid to roll up sleeves and ship.
  • AI‑forward: adept with modern prototyping and productivity tooling (Cursor, Vercel, AI assistants) to explore concepts quickly.
