Director of Engineering, Growth and Extensibility

Position Overview

At Webflow, our mission is to bring development superpowers to everyone. As the pioneer of the Website Experience Platform (WXP), we’re redefining how teams Build, Manage, and Optimize for the web — combining visual development, powerful content management systems, AI-driven personalization, seamless hosting, and end-to-end analytics in a single, unified platform. With AI at the core, Webflow helps teams move faster, create more performant digital experiences, and scale without heavy engineering support. From independent designers and creative agencies to global enterprises, hundreds of thousands of organizations use Webflow to turn ideas into reality — and to power what’s possible on the web.

We’re looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our Growth and Extensibility pillar. These teams are responsible for core growth and extensibility surfaces across Webflow—including AI Site Builder, pricing infrastructure, the app ecosystem, freelancers and agencies workflows, and our API platform.

Responsibilities

As a Director of Engineering, Growth and Extensibility, you will:

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership by staying close to the codebase and deeply understanding system architecture. While you won’t be expected to ship code regularly, you’ll need to contribute meaningfully to technical discussions and design reviews.
  • Embrace a learning mindset. You’re not expected to know everything, but humility and curiosity are essential for success in this role.
  • Lead engineering initiatives across critical areas including AI onboarding, growth experiments, extensibility APIs, marketplace development, and subscription infrastructure.
  • Drive end-to-end execution and delivery of major growth levers such as the AI Site Builder, pricing platform, developer ecosystem, and tools for freelancers and agencies.
  • Collaborate closely with Product to improve monetization, reduce churn, and grow the third-party ecosystem.
  • Own cross-functional platform surfaces like the dashboard, onboarding flows, and internal APIs, ensuring cohesive user and developer experiences.
  • Set architectural direction for new products, including Designer APIs and the billing platform, balancing scalability with product velocity.
  • Foster strong partnerships with product managers and engineering managers, while mentoring and supporting emerging leaders across the organization.
  • Maintain high velocity and execution quality, while investing in the long-term health and stability of our core platform.

In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, at Webflow we will support you in identifying where your interests and development opportunities lie and we'll help you incorporate them into your role.
