Position Overview

Virta Health is dedicated to transforming type 2 diabetes and weight-loss care by offering innovative solutions that include technology, personalized nutrition, and virtual care delivery. We are seeking a Director, Business Operations and Strategy, Care Enablement to play a pivotal role in scaling our operations and ensuring high-quality, scalable care for our members. This role reports to the VP of Care Operations and will focus on workforce strategy, capacity planning, tooling and systems improvements, supplies operations, and experimentation with new care models. This is an ideal opportunity for a former startup operator, consultant, or MBA with a blend of strategy, analytics, and execution skills looking to make a significant impact in healthcare.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead care enablement strategy encompassing workforce planning, panel and capacity management, and care tools and systems.
  • Manage and mentor a small team (2-3 FTEs initially), guiding prioritization, execution, and professional development.
  • Act as a strategic advisor and thought partner to Care leadership, including the VP Coaching/Member Success and VP Clinical Excellence.
  • Translate company goals into actionable operational plans to align care team capacity with demand, both current and future.

Data-Driven Execution & Scaling

  • Own and enhance capacity planning models for Coaching and Clinical teams, focusing on improving panel coverage, staffing efficiency, and forecast accuracy.
  • Oversee care team tooling and systems, collaborating with Product and Engineering to automate workflows and reduce friction.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (e.g., coach productivity, retention impact, gross margin drivers), using insights to shape operations.

Supplies Operations & Fulfillment

  • Manage end-to-end operations for care-related supplies (e.g., medical kits, testing devices), ensuring reliable delivery, cost efficiency, and a positive member experience.
  • Partner with Clinical, Product, and Finance teams to forecast supply needs, optimize inventory, and refine fulfillment processes.
  • Track and analyze supply usage and cost trends, linking insights to care model efficiency and gross margin performance.
  • Design and test improvements to the supplies model, including member self-service tools, automation, and integration with clinical workflows.

Innovation & Care Model Redesign

  • Design and test innovative care delivery models and staffing approaches, balancing cost, quality, and member experience.
  • Launch lean pilots and operational experiments to validate new models, collaborating with Data Science for metric definition and impact analysis.
  • Stay informed about trends in digital health and tech-enabled services to identify opportunities for systems-level improvement.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate across Product, Data, Finance, Recruiting, and Clinical teams to ensure alignment and effective execution of operational plans.
  • Develop business cases for investments in tooling, automation, and team structure to drive margin expansion and service quality.
  • Synthesize complex data and insights to inform strategic decisions and communicate recommendations effectively.
